Every year, the Summer Fancy Food Show attracts thousands of specialty food brands looking to showcase their latest, most innovative artisanal products in hopes of attracting retailers, distributors and more.
Last week, we headed to New York City’s Javits Center for the 2019 Summer Fancy Food Show to get a taste of what new trends are emerging in the specialty snack space and which brands are the ones to watch.
While the floor was buzzing with new innovations and unique ingredients at every turn, here are some breakout brands that caught our eye.

Brooklyn Delhi – Tomato Achaar
Described as “the Indian answer to kimchi”, aachar is a popular Indian condiment typically paired with rice, curry, dal and yogurt. Brooklyn Delhi’s version adds an artisanal flair with small batches infused with locally-grown tomatoes, tamarind, and a unique mix of Indian spices.
What We Love: Brooklyn Delhi’s Tomato Achaar brings an ancient recipe to the forefront with a twist, challenging been-done flavors like Sriracha.
The Foraging Fox – Beetroot Ketchup
With all-natural ingredients and additive-free products a top priority for wellness consumers, even classic condiments like ketchup are seeing healthier innovations. The Foraging Fox has attracted a massive following in the UK for their beetroot ketchup, packed with 100% natural ingredients, and have expanded their line into three different flavor offerings, Smoked, Hot and Original.
What We Love: Foraging Fox Beetroot Ketchup not only adds a number of health benefits to an otherwise sugar-rich condiment, but they’re also dedicated to reducing food waste!
Lekkco Belgian Dark Chocolate Spread
While there are many contenders challenging the classic Nutella spread, Lekkco caught our eye thanks to their Belgian dark chocolate spread that’s gluten-free, nut-free, vegan and non-GMO. Derived from a 50-year-old recipe, the family-owned brand is on a mission to create a truly decadent spread made with real ingredients.
What We Love: Lekkco elevates their all-natural dark chocolate spread with premium, innovative ingredients like beet sugar, coconut oil and Belgian dark chocolate.
Philia Spreadable Feta Cheese
While Philia certainly stands out for their unique flavors of spreadable feta cheese, we were especially impressed by their simplistic, illustrated packaging. In a time of infinite consumer choice where consumers are “eating with their eyes”, Philia’s strong branding highlights the importance of packaging and its ability to attract and entice.

With low-fat ice cream being the second most popular category in ice cream sales, brands are lining up to challenge household names like Halo Top and Skinny Cow. So, what made Re:THINK catch our attention? Not only do they contain zero sugar alcohol, but they also pack more protein, prebiotic fiber, anti-inflammatories and antioxidants into every bite!
